"Seek out the source"

Sunlight fell upon the wall;
the wall received a borrowed splendor.
Why set your heart on a piece of earth,
O simple one? Seek out the source
which shines forever.

"Come with us" -- Ghazal 74

If you never searched for truth
come with us
and you will become a seeker.
If you were never a musician
come with us
and you will find your voice.
You may posses immense wealth
come with us
and you will become love's beggar.
You may think yourself a master
come with us
and love will turn you into a slave.
If you've lost your spirit,
come with us
take off your silk coverings,
put on our rough cloak
and we will bring you back to life.

Delusion is a divine curse
that makes someone envious, conceited, malicious,
so that he doesn't know the evil he does
will strike him back.
If he could see his nothingness
and his deadly, festering wound,
pain would arise from looking within,
and that pain would save him.

"If you are a man of this life" -- Ghazal 3277

if you are a man of this life
then march on this path like a man
or retire and take refuge in your house
since you're not ready for this battle

real men drank a thousand seas and
still died of thirst
you only had a cup
yet boasted of overflowing

you claimed to reach your quest
you'll raise all the dust
yet you've travelled no distance
you've left no mark

now humbly turn to dust
under the gallop of real men
then you'll rise and
become a part of their journey

if you crawl for years
on the path of your quest
do not yield to grief
do not submit to distress

Mystic Poem of Hafiz: Gazal 14: The Green Sea of Heaven

Mystic Poem of Hafiz: Gazal 14: The Green Sea of Heaven -- Fifty
Ghazals from the Diwan of Hafiz, White Cloud Press

The sea of love is a sea that has no shore.
There, you can only give up your soul.

Each time you give your heart to love is a joyous moment.
For auspicious deeds there is no need for divination.

Avail yourself of the rend's way, for this mark,
like the road to buried treasure, is not plain to everyone.

Don't frighten us with reason's prohibitions, and bring wine,
for that watchman has no authority in our province.

One can see him with a pure eye, like the new moon.
Not every eye can hold that crescent's beauty.

Ask your own eyes who is killing us. 0 soul,
it is not the sin of ascendants and the crime of stars.

You are unaffected by the cry of Hafiz.
I am perplexed at that heart, hard as granite.

Mowlana Jalal ad-Din Rumi Quotes

Today I craved some Rumi Poetry...

Here is what I tasted..

“Now I am sober and there's only the hangover and the memory of love .”

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”

“The minute I heard my first love story I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don't finally meet somewhere. They're in each other all along.”

“When I am with you, we stay up all night.
When you're not here, I can't go to sleep.

Praise God for those two insomnias!
And the difference between them.”

“This is love: to fly toward a secret sky, to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment. First to let go of life. Finally, to take a step without feet.”

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I will meet you there.”

“Only from the heart Can you touch the sky.”

“Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.”

“You were born with wings. Why prefer to crawl through life?”

“Let the lover be disgraceful, crazy, absent-minded. Someone sober will worry about events going badly. Let the lover be.”

“Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment.”

“To praise the sun is to praise your own eyes.”

“One day You will take my heart completely and make it more fiery than a dragon. Your eyelashes will write on my heart the poem that could never come from the pen of a poet.”

“Who could be so lucky? Who comes to a lake for water and sees the reflection of moon.”

Inshallah reflect on its inner meaning..

Ahhhh Rumi, I can never get enough!

Peace be upon you!

Friendship, Forgiveness and Cups

I’ve noticed over the last month or two what the true meaning of friendship is, well id be lying if I was a true expert. But I’ve really grasped what makes a friendship work? I’ve tried immensely over the last couple of months to fight my ego and tried not to let my nafs take control and let go of the past and the people who have hurt me. I’ve tried to reestablish ties with people who I haven’t been on good terms with for a long time, and rang them up for Eid and also at the beginning of Ramadhan, but sometimes friends can grow apart no matter how much you think of them being the same person people just change and you have to take the good as well as the bad. When one door closes another opens, and that’s an inevitable part of life, letting go and accepting that sometimes your friendship isn’t wanted and is unappreciated. But to what extent can we try? To what lengths to we go to salvage the friendship? Or maybe it’s just best to leave it and move on? I read someplace by a Sufi Poet that when a glass has a crack in it, afterwards you try to fill the same cup up again with water eventually it will drain it self out again and be empty. I believe this is the perfect analogy for the heart, when it gets devastatingly hurt, later when ties are trying to connect again and fill the heart with love, the heart will never forget the sorrow and pain and eventually the heart will just dry up, and the friendship can not work anymore, I have witnessed this, and I have tried to recover some friendships I have had in the past but ultimately if both hearts are fractured (depending on the scale of the damage done, of course) its best just to leave it. It’s really sad clearly we try to hold onto something that makes us comfortable and go to any lengths to retrieve it, but in the end its our acceptance of this inevitable that will heal the heart, and learn from our mistake. Over the last weeks I’ve observed a lot of relationships with people, and those who have reciprocated and shown mutual love and affection towards me I’ve concentrated my focus on them because these are the cups that are worth being protected from any harm or damage, and I ask Allah (swt) to guard them with all his might, and I thank him for showing me the false from the true cups, and I ask him to bless me with the wisdom of distinguishing between them in he future.

If you can try to re-establish and mend relationships, but if it is evident that they do not appreciate you or value you for the person you are. Don’t waste valuable time on them, rather spend it with those who want and cherish your company, create ties with them and keep them safe from harm, for these are the best people to be around you.

I ask those who I have upset and hurt in the past, I have tried to mend and heal the broken cups but was unsuccessful to forgive me for my short comings. We must accept the inevitable and hope fully Allah will bless us with better and greater friendships.

Allah’s mercy always rains. We just need to turn ourselves into cups and receive his blessings.

“Don't grieve. Anything you lose comes round in another form.”- Rumi

Eid Mawbarak

Eid Mawbarak!!!

Yes its that time of the year again!! May Allah (swt) accept all our fasts our prayers our charity and all our other acts of ibadah (worship) Ameen!

This year I have learnt so much over Ramadhan, I couldn’t imagine I would have learnt so much about myself. In regards to deen I’m still exceedingly deficient in knowledge and lack a lot , however I’ve discovered a lot about people, especially those around me, friends and family. I’ve studied and seen the best and worse in people, and I have to say that the friends I’ve made over this Ramadhan, I ask Allah (swt) to bless our friendship so we may remain friends for ever! I’ve let go of people in my life who have held me back, and have discouraged me from experiencing life, people who have pulled me down with them, and Allah as my witness I’m happy to say that this Eid marks a new path for myself and hopefully will further my journey to the beloved. I’m not faultless or flawless, I’m just a sinful human, however I try my best everyday to please my parents, try to be the finest friend I can be, try to be honest and trustworthy and Alhumdililah I’m lucky enough to have the such great individuals in my life that care about me. Today I think I got almost 50 txt msg’s talk about popular mind you, that was after I had to empty my inbox out. So Eid Mawbarak to everyone! And if you didn’t get my e-card, you most definitely would have gotten either a phone call or a txt message from me, but anyone I’ve forgotten once again I wish you and your family the best for this Eid, and pray for me!

Marriage, Kibbiniah and other stuff

Okay so where were we, Friday night was sooo random. yesterday I spent 4 hours in the uni library trying to finish my essay, (which I handed in ALHUMDILILAH) I waited for a friend to finish and we were going to go home together. But instead went to a iftar with all the BIG sheikhs, I saw The mufti not to mention a lot of other predominate mushaykh, while we sat on the other side of the curtain from the men (THANK GOD I nearly walked into someone cause I was staring at the ground the whole time in the mens section), anyways the night was superb I never knew Arabic food was this good. If I get spoken to again in Arabic one more time I think I’m gonna scream, all I could hear was ‘arabi shaqel’ and ‘pass the kibbbnah’ along with the olive oil.. Ahh arabs are just like us Afghans.. love their food. I think I put on a few kilo’s last night, nonetheless gym starts again for me ‘properly’ next week. Anyways I have to stop talking about and thinking about food. I am at work at the moment, I think I’ll have some thai food tonight..mmm

I was thinking a lot about marriage yesterday and last night spoke with several different friends both girls and guys I have to admit the guys I spoke with (You know who you are) May Allah bless you with the best wives seriously! The main points and discussions were: How long should we get to know a person before we can decide? Should we even get to know the person at all, or give them our families number right away? I know there are countless numbers of articles and opinions on this subject however my personal experience is that you should: write down a few traits that are very important to you, once you build a foundation for your standards then you can develop from there, how are you suppose to know if he is Mr Right if you don’t know who Mr Right is? Once you have this information prioritise which is most important to you. Ie: Education, Religion, Nationality, Attractive, Family. I think it is a hazard approaching the person directly. It’s a total recipe for disaster, because there is no ‘shame’ or I suppose ‘modesty’ shown, I’m not sure how you say it in English but in farsi its called ‘haya’ when these issues of marriage fall into the hands of people with no ‘haya’ believe me, don’t expect a marriage proposal expect a bad name and no dignity left, we discussed it last night even the Guys said so too ‘guys that rather do things directly deserve to be shot’ girls are easily manipulated, and are typically naïve, easily sweet talked. So once determined if he passes the preliminary test, give your parents phone number to him, that way you can distinguish straight away if he is serious or not. Shaitan will always put doubts in your head ie: ‘get to know him, whats he like?’ etc forget it.. don’t fall for it. I mean I have a lot of friends who are male, although they might fit the criteria for marriage material, infact most do, I don’t like to put my self in a position as well as many other girls to get hurt or fall victim to love. I read a sufi quote ‘Don’t love humans because they have many short coming, give all your love to Allah as he is perfect’ it was something like that. so in short, for all the women who independant *sings destiny's child* LOL joking. In deen its best to keep things simple, I believe the same can be assumed in marriage. the more complications from the begining the more adjustments that would need to be made later on. And offcourse Alhumdililah for those special friends (you know who you are im sure you'll read this) for the great talk.

Anyways

Random

Salaams

My, of my, what a different week, although I have been flat out with work and Uni commitments and also some other voluntarily commitments within 3 different groups at uni, not to mention assignments and assessments. Alhumdililah! When Allahs mercy and Noor pours down, we just need to learn how to turn ourselves into cups and receive!

Ive decided to remove all negitivity from my blog. Although that doesnt mean I cant have my random rant, we all need to vent once in a while but im going to focus on the good things in life. And as we should all reflect upon how our ramadhan was spent and how we can better prepare ourselves for next year, and mark the start of a new leaf, we should give thanks that Allah for pouring his rains of mercy on us. for me this new month marks a significant turning point for me, as alot has changed the last couple of weeks and I'll try to post as much as I can if I have the time.

Anyways

This is just a quick entry before I squeeze the last couple of words into my politics essay due tomorrow. I had the pleasure to help out with a fast-a-thon conducted by the Afghan Society at Macquarie Uni. It would be an understatement to say how lovely the brothers and sisters are! They are totally awesome! Mash`allah! I met so many non-muslims who observed the fast and it was very special to me to share such a great and important aspect of my faith so openly with others especially non-muslims and muslims alike. The afghani food was delicious there was so much left Alhumdilah it was great, we had a Afghan caterer bring us the food. And set it out buffet style. But the best part of the whole thing was unity, the sense of feeling whole. Putting aside differences Muslims, Non Muslims, shia, sunni, Afghan, lebo, Paki…etc…

Anyways will write more later.

Another rant

Salaam alaikum

Don’t you hate that feeling when you get sand stuck in your eye, and it only hurts when you close it, or that sick vomiting feeling in your gut, like your always full, how about the ‘lump in the throat’ you get and its too hard to swallow. Many say this is how it feels when the heart cries, not doves, the heart. Unconsciously moving through this world with out a slight care. A bus might hit you, or you might be struck by lightening, you might just end up falling flat on your face and dying for no reason at all. That real ‘I don’t give a toss about anything’ attitude, have you been hurt so many times that your only friend is a domestic animal? Are you sick of the shit humans have given you. I personally want to move to another planet! Being a martyr in this life is not easy; living at the expense of others is difficult. Living like a used up old doormat, where people just wipe their feet all over you, I am nothing, just a shadow, just a background noise, and just an extra. I honestly find it difficult to see this ‘light’ at the end of the tunnel everyone makes a big deal about? What if there is no light? What if you’re not destined to see the light? What if you miss the light? What if you’re just destined to struggle everyday with everything going shit all the time? Its funny you know, I use to always ask myself every Sunday morning at 4am when I got up for work, whilst everyone else slept, id say ‘I hate my life’ ‘I hate it’ ‘I hate going to work this early’ for the whole 30 mins in the car on the way to work I would whine and carry on, I suppose today its been a few hours now Its 9am now and I’m still at it, but its not about waking up early. It’s about being unappreciated, like I said before. I’m just a door mat, living like a martyr I find it hard to smile sometimes, well I should say I find it hard not to cry all the time.
I’m sick of being hurt by people. I’m sick of it. Ugh! I wish I lived on a far far far place, I wouldn’t be missed even if I did, and no-one would now where alissy went, no not at all. Maybe they’ll start to realise that there is no background noise? But then again, I suppose anyone can take my place. It’s not hard to beat me; I haven’t really accomplished anything. I better go now. The computer is shutting itself down every so often. And its bugging me. See even technology doesn’t like me. I believe there is a curse on me, everything I turn ends up hating me, or even just ignoring me, which is worse than hating. I’m going to go now I suppose I should wish all the readers a good day since mine is going absolutely crap. Toddles then.

P.s. I wrote another poem this morning. But I don’t want to post it right now. Maybe later on.

I hope there are better days.

"The Beloved you've lost" -- Ghazal 2582

I want to leave this town
but you've chained me down
stolen away my heart
leaving yourself behind

now i've lost my way
my soul restless and head twisted
all because of those secrets
you once whispered

i only must keep
fasting my heart
to set me free
from sleepless nights

since your only advice
when you saw me in flame
was to keep burning
with you or with your thoughts

words of wisdom
came to me at last
"the beloved you've lost
the one you've been seeking outside
can only be found inside"

-- Ghazal 2582, from the Diwan-e Shams

If I was not so pitifully in love

I wouldn't then be standing at your door.

Don't say, "Go away, don't stand at my door!"

I wouldn't exist, my dear, if I didn't stand here.

#1923, from Rumi's Kolliyaat-e Shams-e Tabrizi
Edited by Badiozzaman Forouzanfar (Tehran, Amir Kabir, 1988).

For love of you, my soul soars in the sky

As your kindness plucks music on its strings.

The smallest favor that you grant your slave

Is greater than a thousand years of prayer brings.

#939, from Rumi's Kolliyaat-e Shams-e Tabrizi
Edited by Badiozzaman Forouzanfar (Tehran, Amir Kabir, 1988

If they all leave me, my love, don't go.

Friend, who drinks my sadness up, don't go.

Fill my cup with wine, and your sweet laugh.

Please, good Saghi, who lights the world, don't go.

What would the lover do with his heart?

The heart left,
and the Friend is -also- gone.
I don't know whether I should go after the Friend
or after the heart!
A voice spoke to me:
'Go in pursuit of the Friend,
because the lover needs a heart
in order to find union with the Friend.
If there was no Friend,
what would -the lover- do with -his- heart?'

'Kashf al Asrar', Sheikh Ansari, may Allah sanctify his soul & bless his secret

The ritual prayer is five times daily,
but the guide for lovers is the verse,
they who are in prayer continually.*
The headache of intoxication in those heads
isn't relieved by five times, nor by five hundred thousand.
"Visit once a week" is not the ration for lovers;
the soul of sincere lovers has an intense craving to drink.
"Visit once a week" is not the ration for those fish,
since they feel no spiritual joy without the Sea.

Bismillah ir Rahman ir Raheem.

Whenever you see someone crossing the court yard of your breast to approach the door of your heart, you strike his head from his shoulder. -Shaykh Abdal Qadir al Jilani

My Heart is poisoned, Oh Allah (swt) Help me, bring me closer to you!

I was shuffling through my journal as pictured, Even though I am I little reluctant to publicly write things so personal, on this occasion I do. I have handwritten and typed quotes from several books. I use these quotes out of pure intention not to gain any worldly benefit, but to only share the wisdom of the Scholars that I quote. Allah forgive me, for any mistyped quotes.

Recently I have drifted from my deen, not entirely but I have been deeply dwelling in other matters which have not let me practice my religion fully, worldly matters. In an attempt to ease my suffering I read some work by Sayyidina Shaykh Abdal Qadir al Jilani.

Quote Shaykh Abdal Qadir al Jilani [Allah be please with him]

“Woe unto you! You would dearly love to remain in this world forever, but nothing will fall into your hands until such time as you put the ritual prayer [salat] before the business of your shop; until such a time as you put the hereafter before your worldly interests; until such time as you put the Creator [khaliq] before his creatures [khalq]…” [Jala Al-Khawatir]

My heart is full of love for this dunya and its creatures/ Oh Allah, please remove all love for this world and creatures of this world from my heart remove all cares from my heart.

The Holy Quran:

“Allah has not assigned to any man two hearts within his body” [33:4]

Quote Shaykh Abdal Qadir al Jilani: [Allah be please with him]

“A heart that loves both creator and creatures is unsound. A heart that contains both this world and the hereafter is unsound.” [Jala Al-Khawatir]

This 1st week of Ramadan I have learnt a lot about myself, and the person I have become, and ignorant fool. Even this is an understatement. I have despised the person I have become. The Nafs driven person I have become, the selfish, vain, self centered & arrogant person I have develop into. We too often take Allah’s illumination for granted; we are dark nafs driven, and material obsessed humans, whom without Allahs light and guidance we will remain like a pitch black room lost in darkness. All the righteous and good in which we achieve are not from our own attributes, but his alone. Only an arrogant, selfish, self centered, self seeking person would assert that he has achieved such a status, Oh Allah help us! It is not our doing! We have submitted to our nafs! The nafs can only be disciplined by ourself! Now we see why our iman is constantly staggering, because we praise ourselfs for the good we do (salat, fasting, zakat etc) this in return feeds our ego's.

Quote Shaykh Abdal Qadir al Jilani: [Allah be please with him]

The true believer [mu’min] takes his own lower self [nafs] to task. When it is affected by pain and suffering, he says to it: “I gave you sound advice and you took no notice of the advice I gave you. I gave you plenty of warning! O ignorant one! O unbeliever! [kafira], o enemy of Allah!” If a person does not act as a preacher to his own lower self, he will never derive any benefit from the advice of any other preacher. If a person wishes to attain salvation [falah], he needs to give stern advice to his own lower self. He must teach it to practice abstinence and engage in constant struggle with it. .” [Jala Al-Khawatir]

My heart has been captured by my nafs, Oh Allah remove it immediately and replace it with love for you only! My heart is only for Allah. My heart only longs for the love of Allah, remove everything else!

I ask my family & friends to forgive me for anything I have done to cause them grief or sorrow. I ask them to forgive me for any distress I caused unto them. I ask Allah to forgive us all.

Poem by Maulana Rumi Fasting

There's hidden sweetness in the stomach's emptiness.
We are lutes, no more, no less
If the soundbox is stuffed full of anything, no music.
If the brain and the belly are burning clean with fasting,
every moment a new song comes out of the fire.
The fog clears, and new energy makes you run up the steps in front of you.
Be emptier and cry like reed instruments cry.
Emptier, write secrets with the reed pen.
When you're full of food and drink, an ugly metal statue sits where your
spirit should.
When you fast, good habits gather like friends who want to help.
Fasting is Solomon (as) 's ring.
Don't give it to some illusion and lose your power, but even if you have,
if you've lost all will and control, they come back when you fast,
like soldiers appearing out of the ground, pennants flying above them.
A table descends to your tents, the Lord's table.
Expect to see it when you fast, this table spread with other food,
better than the broth of cabbages.

Shahru Ramadhan from Shaykh ‘Abdul Qadir Jilani

"O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you that you may (learn) self restraint." (Al-Qur`an, 2:183) - So fasting helps learn self-restraint, (Taqwa)

Begins with Mercy :- 1 st 10 days, Middle is Forgiveness 2 nd 20 days, Ends with deliverance from Hell :- 3rd 30 days

Who ever fasts will walk through the 8 th gate of Heaven called Rayyan. It is reserved only for the people of fasting. It is the month of Sabr – patient and charitable sharing.

Cultivate 4 practices and repeat them frequently which;

2 will earn your Lords pleasure

2 you just cannot afford to do without

1 st Dhikr of Shahadah la-e-laha-illal-lah

2 nd Begging for Forgiveness i.e. Astaghfirullah, Rab-bigh-fir-lee

3 rd Imploring to be granted the Garden of Paradise

4 th Taking Refuge from the Fire of Hell i.e. Allahumma jarnee min-nan-nar

It called Ramadhan because it has is a scorching effect upon sins; it burns sins away. So our bodies and hearts experience a process of purification. [so you could also understand it as, purifying yourself on earth or wait and be purified in the burning of hell fire the choice is yours ]

The sleeping of the one fasting is an act of ibadah –worship, as there silence is tasbih – saying subhanallah; moreover his dua's are sure to be answered and this good deeds will be multiplied.

Three types of people pray are answered, one of them is the one Fasting. So ask many dua's while fasting. Also the fast is a junna (suit of armour, protective shield) for the one who fast.

While doing voluntarily ibadh like nafl or dhikr at night, read from the noble Quran the verse

" Inna Fa-tahna laka fath-hum-mubeena "- We have surely given you a signal victory (48:1)

That person will receive a guarantee of safekeeping for the whole year. So read it frequently.

Every month one should try to fast al-ayyum al-bid – [White nights] which is 13 th 14 th 15 th nights of every month as the reward from the 1 st is 10,000 rewards, 2 nd 30,000 rewards, 3 rd 300,000 rewards.

Every Sajdah – prostration is 1700 rewards. Also every nafl has the equivalent of a fard pray that is 70 times. As a fard is 70 times more than a nafl pray.

Only on Friday and Shahru Ramadhan there is no Hisaab – [reckoning] given if you spend your wealth. For you will be questioned on how to spent your wealth on the day of Reckoning, expect Friday and Shahru Ramadhan.

The garden of Paradise will be refurbished and re-decorated every month of Ramadhan and the maidens of Paradise will splendidly adorn themselves and be requesting for a suitor to marry.

No servant who keeps the fast at least one day of the month of Ramadhan, can possibly fail to be married to a wife from brides of Paradise.

Who ever provides Iftar –[breaking of Fast] for someone, will be forgiven for their sins and earn freeing from hellfire, also be granted the rewards of actions of the one fasting, without the one fasting losing anything. Even if giving a dried date, you will be rewarded. Providing a satisfying Iftar you will be rewarded by drinking from the hawd –[Basin] of Allah; you will never feel thirsty after drinking it.

In this Month Allah will ask 3 times "Does anyone have a request to make, so I may grant his request? Is there anyone who wishes to repent, so that I may relent towards him and accept his repentance? Is there anyone wishing to seek forgiveness, so I may forgive him?…"

Warning !

Do not say Ramadhan in a sentence, say like the Quran says Shahru Ramadhan 2:185

There are many that fast by the day and get nothing but hunger and thirst and by the night spend it in qiyam layla – [ night vigil ]pray and get nothing but insomnia. Why? Looking with desire, backbite, lying breaks the fast.

There are 4 exception who will not be forgiven in the month of Ramadhan

Addicted to alcohol

Disobedient and disrespectful towards parents

Guilty of disrupting bonds of kinship – relatives and families fighting

Reluctant to abandon a grudge and stubbornly unwilling to accept the restoration of good relations with anyone who has offended him.

Composed by Muhammad Sajad Ali Qadiri Noshahi

Ramadhan Kareem

Asalaamualikum.

What an eventful week it has been for me. I haven’t had the much wanted time to prepare for Ramadan this year. I have been flat out at work and at Uni, I’m on Uni break at the moment. I should be finishing my 2 essays due in a few weeks. but this weekend I’m just relaxing, Its astonishing the calm and tranquility that comes over you during Ramadan. My boss is in China at the moment and has left me in charge so I was thinking of doing a magical disappearing act just before Ramadan, but it doesn’t look like that will be happening, considering a guy at my work (a new guy), broke the computer at work! I had to order a new one, the other guy borrowed the company car and smashed it! I’m not looking forward to telling my boss this. All happened on my 2 days off! LOL men! Apart from the annual Muslim Sydney Clash over what day it is actually Ramadan, I’m quite content, as I myself being a Naqshbandi, Shaykh Nazim has ordered us to start today Sunday 24th in Australia! Although some of my Family started yesterday and some are starting tomorrow, I’m tired of telling people why I’m fasting today. I should just have a sign on my forehead! Enough of my rant. I’m trying to clean this blog up. I have a lot of links that need to be updated and I promised myself I would try to write more often, as I believe I was accused of having a 'cut & paste' blog by a discourteous person last year.

I leave you all a quote that touched me!

Ramadan Kareem

Alis Abawi

If love were only spiritual,
the practices of fasting and prayer would not exist.
The gifts of lovers to one another are,
in respect to love, nothing but forms;
yet, they testify
to invisible love.

Burned Alive

Its almost certainly a huge turnaround from my book collection, but a definite eye opener. I assume Muslims today deny that Honour Killings occur in our culture. But what would we know? I mean I've lived in Sydney for over 20 years. Who am I to say what takes place in a village back home in Afghanistan, The nasty truth is that Honour Killings do take place. So Muslims should accept it as a cruel reality, recognise its existence in society (predominantly Arab cultures) and speak out against it, because it is rather apparent that Islam denounces any brutality against women and children. I read this book in one day from cover to cover. It really draws you in from the first few pages.

Burned Alive: A Victim of the Law of Men
by Souad

suddenly felt a cold liquid running over my head and instantly I was on fire. It is like a movie that has been speeded up, images racing past. I start to run in the garden, barefoot. I slap my hair, I scream. I feel my dress billow out behind me. Was my dress on fire, too?
I smell the gasoline and I run, the hem of my long dress getting in the way. My terror leads me instinctively away from the courtyard. I run toward the garden as the only way out. I know I'm running and I'm on fire and I'm screaming. But I remember almost nothing after that. How did I get away? Did he run after me? Was he waiting for me to fall so he could watch me go up in flames?

The first true account ever published by a victim of an "honor crime," Souad's testimony is a shocking, moving, and harrowing story of cruelty...and incomparable courage.

BURNED ALIVE

When Souad was seventeen she fell in love. In her Palestinian village, as in so many other villages, sex before marriage is considered a grave dishonor to one's family and is punishable by death. This was her crime. Her brother-in-law was given the task of meting out her punishment. One morning while Souad was washing the family's clothes, he poured gasoline over her and set her on fire.

In the eyes of their community he was a hero. An execution for a "crime of honor" is a duty, and Souad's brother-in-law had the full support of her parents.

Miraculously, she survived, rescued by women of her village, who put out the flames and took her to a local hospital. Horribly burned over ninety percent of her body and still denounced by her family-who strived to "finish the job" even as she lay suffering in the clinic-Souad was able to receive the care she needed only after the intervention of a European aid worker. Now in permanent exile from her homeland, she has decided to tell her story and reveal the barbarity of a practice that continues to this day.

More than five thousand honor killings are reported every year; many more go unreported. BURNED ALIVE is both the dramatic, heartbreaking, and inspiring testimony of one young woman's resolve to survive and build a new life-and a call to action to end a heinous tradition.

Sohbet from 14.5.06

Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim
Sohbet from 14.5.06

We Must Rebuild Our Personality!

Astaghfirullah!...
Tubtu wa rajatu ila-llah…
Tubna wa rajana ila-llah!…
Destur, ya Sultanu-l Awliya
Meded, Meded, ya Rijalallah, a´inuna bi madadikum!

As-salamu alaikum!... O our Lord, put Your weak servants under Your Divinely
Protection! Therefore - you must try to say as much as possible more: As-salamu
alaikum, As-salamu alaikum, As-salamu alaikum!…

As-Salam, peace - when you are saying (it) too much, (it is) bringing peace to
you and (to) everything around yourself and also spreading that blessings and
mercy through East and West. But now people are not using too much to say:
As-salamu alaikum. Say (it), as much as possible!

And we are saying: As-salamu alaikum! As salamu alaikum, ya ´ibadallahi salihin…
Allah Allah…Allah Allah…

And we are asking Divinely Support; and Divinely Support (is) never coming to
people directly. That is like a - as we are saying it for understanding -
blessing is coming like Niagara Falls. You can't reach to take from that, but if
it is going through pipes, (you) may drink (from it), (you) may use it.
Therefore, Awliya, whole Alwiyas, Awliyas means, Waliyullah that means: Friend
of Allah, or (someone) who is going to be friendly to Allah. Try to be friendly
to Allah! But people (are) running to be friends of Shaytan, because it is (from
the) Last Days' signs that people should run to be friends of Shaytan and very
few people (are) running to be Friends of Allah Almighty.

And you can't be friend of Allah Almighty, till you are going to be friend to
His most beloved servant SayyidinaMuhammad - sallaLlahu ´alayhi wa sallam! And
you can't be reaching to that point- to be friend of Rasulullah - sallaLlahu
´alayhi wa sallam - till you are going to be friendly to (the) friends of
Rasulullah - sallaLlahu ´alayhi wa sallam. If you are not reaching (the) friends
of Rasulullah - sallaLlahu ´alayhi wa sallam, you can't reach to be friend of
Allah Almighty!

A´udhu bi-llahi mina shaytani rajim! O our Lord, please give Your Protection on
Your weak servants! We are saying: "We are weak servants, please make Your
Divinely Protection on ourselves, not to be friends of Shaytan!" Friends of
Shaytan (are) going to be in Hells, (and it is) beginning here, they are
burning! They are burning from inside of themselves or (from) outside (they are)
burning, but they are insisting to be, yet to be, friends of Shaytan!

Say: "A´udhu bi-llahi mina shaytani rajim, o our Lord, we are running to You,
not to be friends to Shaytan!" Say! In such a meaning say: A´udhu bi-llahi mina
shaytani rajim!…

People (are) coming to me, saying: "O Sheikh, I am ill, but I am going to
Doctors (and) they are sending me to tahlil, analysis, (saying): 'Go to that one
to make (a) check-up for yourself and bring that (result) to me to look', and I
am going (to a) different analysts, (the) analyst (is) saying: 'Oh, you are…
nothing with you, you are okay!' "But" - he is insisting - "I am (still) feeling
that I am not healthy!"

Yes… but yet there are not thinking that that is something (which is) not
belonging to their material being, no, (it is something) from inside! Yet they
are not coming to say, to accept that we have another being through ourselves
that that is our souls. They (are) never going to ask, to make a check-up for
their souls. (They are) running to make check-up (for) every organ through
themselves, but they (are) never going to look, to make a check-up for their
souls, no, because people (are) becoming such materialists. They are thinking
(that they are) only material beings. Material beings never making a thing to
move by itself, no.

(A) car is a car, but you must put in its box a kind of water and that water
(is) changing in(to) another… position and moving… making car to move. They are
always looking: "What is the matter? Our car can't walk, (but) we are looking
(that) everything (is) okay." "Look, if it has fuel"… "What is fuel? Our car is
okay, for what fuel?" "Ya Hu, without fuel your car can't move!"…

People (are) running to Doctors. (The) doctor (is) saying: "You are 100% okay!"
"O Doctor, if 100 % I am okay, why I am coming to you? I am feeling something in
myself that (is) making me not to be rest; (there is) disturbing me something
from inside. What is that?" "You must go to Haci X… there is a person that he
may understand such a matters…what is their name?… Their name (is)
psychiatrists… And so many psychiatrists (are) coming to Sheikh, saying: "O
Sheikh, I am feeling no good!" "What you are doing?" I am asking. "Psychiatry."
"Ahhh… psychiatry… and you are coming to me for (a) treatment, to treat you?"…
I am saying first: "Jump!" If (he is) jumping, I am saying: "You are alright,
okay, go away, finished!" "(But) I am coming for (a) check-up!" "That is my
check-up! If you are jumping, (it) means, (that) you are okay, nothing (wrong)
with you!… (But) if (it is) not enough (for you), (we make) another check-up:
Run from up to that side!" "For what?" "There is a cat running in front of you,
run and catch it!"… I am psychiatrists' doctor! All psychiatrists also they are
strange…antika… All psychiatrists, their minds out of their minds, two feet… "I
am trying you, if you are okay or not." "I can't be!" "You can't be? (Then) you
must try to run every day 100 meters to catch a cat. Catch and bring (it) to
me!" "How…?" "I am doctor of psychiatrists, you don’t know! Come, what I am
saying to you, it is okay!"

(For) everything: Check-up! But for psychiatrists - they are unhappy to be
checked up! You are making check-up for people and (you are) saying: "Nothing
(wrong) with you", but I am looking that you also (are) falling into a deep
well, (and) you can't be able to take yourself out. That is my check-up to you!

And we are in need (for someone) who (is) making (a) check-up for our unknown
being, souls! The authority for that just (has been) granted to Prophets. Then,
Prophets, from Prophets that (have been) granted to make a check-up, (it is)
granted- what they have been permitted (to do)- (to those who are) through
Prophets line people. They may do this, not (just) anyone (who is) saying: "I
can do!" You cant do! But people are running non-sensely to make a check-up,
check-up… for themselves and it is impossible. Really we are in need a check-up
for our souls and who can do that check-up for our souls? Those whom they are
authorized with heavenly Authority, authorised by heavenly Authority! They can
do only this, not (just anyone who is) going (to a) school (and who is) reading,
reading, reading… They can't understand anything!
And they are so very rare now, (these authorized people), because people are
running to make their check-up with psychiatrists and their level (is) on (the)
same level (with them) and (so) they can't take any benefit. Finished, finished!
Mankind just finished, because they are in ruins innerly. In ruins! They must
rebuild their personalities once again!
First they must try to recognize their real identity. Who are you? First, for
rebuilding himself through this life, to recognize himself: Who are you? Someone
must teach him: Who are you? Because by yourself you can't know, who are you.
You can see everything, except yourself; your eyes (are) looking and seeing
everything, except yourself. What you are in need? You need a mirror!

(You are looking into the mirror), (but) you say that: "I am this one (in the
mirror)?" (Then) you must bring two witnesses (to confirm to you) that through
that mirror you are that one! By himself he can't recognize himself also in (a)
mirror! He may think: "That is another one! I am not this one, because I am not
looking myself, putting myself second to that and to see that this and this
(are) same no. Perhaps that mirror it is a strange instrument, showing shadows,
showing something in it." But if no one in that area, you can't say that: 'This
is, I am that one.' You need two witnesses (to tell you) that: "This you are,
you are looking. That is mirror, showing to you."

Therefore, (for a) man who is asking: Who are you? (there) must be a person like
(a) mirror (for him), to be able to show (to him): "You are this one!" When he
is accepting, what he is saying, then that person (is) just permitted to build,
to rebuild your existence, to manifest yourself again, as before. Because you
are in ruins, destroyed; your real being (is) destroyed, therefore you are in
need a rebuilding, and rebuilding (is) only (for) those people, who have been
granted heavenly Lights and (who are) authorized through Heavens- not from
earth, no! (Authorization) from earth (it means:) on our level…(the) level of
animals…zoo level…We are on zoo level…(They are) putting some examples in(to
the) zoo-garden, but (they are) not putting one man inside also that we are on
same level!… You went zoo-garden?… You have been in zoo-garden?… I went also,
but I was escaping, not to put me also in another place… (because they are
saying) that: "This one also (is) on that level, (he is an) animal!"…

Our level (is the) first level, (that) of animals. Only (that) we have been
granted (the ability) for speaking, other animals are not speaking. Same
qualities that they have, we have same also, only they are running on four legs,
we are running on two legs… But we must get up for rebuilding our real
personality!

If you are not recognizing yourself, you can't be able to understand anything!
(then you are) coming (here as a) 'hayvan', going (as a) 'hayvan', coming as
(an) animal, and going as an animal… And this life that people (are) living now,
it is not (on the) 2nd level of real mankind. Because first level (people),
their characteristic (is) on… same character, all of them! If they are getting
on (the) 2nd level, they can't touch like this…(they) can't give (troubly to
anyone)… (they) can't harm anyone!

Once my Grandsheikh showed me in Mecca Mukarrama Baitu-llah sharafaha-llah:
"Look, Nazim Effendi, up!" I am looking one, first level people: they are making
Tawwaf, but they are quarrelling and making everything, giving harm (to) people,
pushing them, pulling them… but the 2nd one, (there) I am looking and seeing a
group of people, (that) they are like butterflies… no sound… no trouble…no
harming…! (On the) first level, (the) level of animals; they are giving to each
other harm, biting, hitting, everything they are doing…

Now look and say truth! What is the level of living people, whom they are
claming that: "We reached to top of civilization"? They are so big liars,
because that is Shaytan's teaching to them, to say: "Now you are on top level of
civilization!" For what? "Because you have so many kinds of weapons and high
technology you have, therefore you reached (the) top of civilization." And I am
saying: "Yet you are on (the) same level (with animals)! Technology (is) never
taking you (up to be) on (the) second level. Only spirituality can take you (up)
and your spirituality (is) under (such) heavy pressure (that) you can't be able
to leave it, to reach to that point." And people are trying to kill, to harm
people, to destroy - what is that? That is the level of mankind? I am sorry to
say (that) it is not (the) level of real… human beings level. And I am sorry to
say that even animals level they are not accepting (these people on) their level
and (so they are) kicking them down! Kicking them down!

That is the position, general view of our world in our days that it is last
days, and we are reaching to Yaum al-Qiyyama…

O people, come and listen and ask truth! To ask truth, it is your most important
characteristic (as human beings). You must ask truth and you must try to learn
(the) truth about your life (so) that you should be up (on the 2nd level), never
harming (anyone). Therefore - (the) Prophet - sallaLlahu ´alayhi wa sallam -
(was) saying: "A surrendered people"- that people are running away from Islam,
the name of Islam; they are hating (it) and (they are) running away (from it),
but really Islam what (it is) saying? (it is saying): "A real Muslim (is
someone) who (is) never harming people, (neither) by his tongue, (nor) by his
hand, (or) by his power." They are not real Muslims, now (these) people,
Muslims! You are looking and seeing what (is) happening! And people (are)
thinking that Islam (is) ordering to kill people without any… with reason or
without reason! (They are) destroying every day and they are saying: "In the
name of Islam!" A´udhu bi-llah! Allah takes them away! Takes them away…

Don’t be with them! Don’t say that they are doing good! That is not Islam and
they are not Muslims! Only by name; their names may be written Muslims, but they
are so far - as far (as the) earth (is far) from Heavens, they are far away from
Islam!…

May Allah forgive us and bless you!

For the honour of the most honoured one in His Divine Presence
SayyidinaMuhammad - sallaLlahu ´alayhi wa sallam, Fatiha.

Offical notice

Salaamualykum,

This was emailed to me via a e-group,

I wont actually comment on this right now.

Meddad Ya Sultan

Statement of non-association with Naqshbandi Michigan

BISMILLAHIRRAHMANIRRAHIM

Selam aleykum,

This is an offical notice to assert the authorized mission of Sheykh
Abdul Kerim al-Hakkani al-Kibrisi and the integrity of the Osmanli
Dergahi. Sheykh Abdul Kerim works world-wide, independently of any
other sheykh, with the permission and under the direct orders of
Mevlana Sheykh Nazim al-Hakkani al-Kibrisi.

This is a statement that the Osmanli Naks-i'bendi Hakkani Dergahi
(aka Osmanli Dergahi) has no connections whatsoever with Sheykh
Hisham Kabbani, his organizations based in Michigan, or any of his
deputies, associations, web sites, mailing lists, programs, etc. The
the Osmanli Naks-i'bendi Dergahi is a completely seperate entity from the "Naqshbandi Haqqani Sufi Order" of America.

Sheykh Abdul Kerim and the Osmanli Dergahi take orders directly from Mevlana Sheykh Nazim al-Hakkani al-Kibrisi. Sheykh Hisham Kabbani and his spokespeople do not speak for, and cannot speak for, Sheykh Abdul Kerim and the Osmanli Dergahi.

We have our work. They have theirs.

The purpose of this notice is a matter of protocol to make the
situation perfectly clear after a serious breach of etiquette on the
part of Sheykh Kabbani and his people. It has been over forty days
since the NY Times published an article in which the reporter
attacked by insinuation Sheykh Abdul Kerim's legitimacy as an
Islamic leader and as a Sheykh of the Tarikat. In that article,
Sheykh Kabbani's spokespeople - Abdul Haqq Sazanoff and Sanaa Nadim
- supported that view.

From the article:
"On its Web site, Mr. Fuat's group says that he is a deputy of
Grandshaykh Muhammad Nazim, the spiritual leader of the worldwide
Naqshbandi-Haqqani Sufi Order. But Abdul Haqq, a spokesman for that
order in North America, said he is not.
'He has made his own group,' Mr. Haqq said."

Neither Sheykh Kabbani nor Abdul Haqq have contacted Sheykh Abdul
Kerim Efendi to retract the statement, and to offer an apology.
Whatever their misunderstanding or ignorance in prior years and
months, they in fact knew Abdul Haqq's statement to be
categorically false when the article went to press. We had informed
the reporter of Sheykh Mevlana's message to Sheykh Abdul Kerim,
posted publicly on the http://www.naksibendi.org site with English
translation. Sheykh Mevlana definitively and with emphasis addresses
Sheykh Abdul Kerim as "Sheykh", states that Sheykh Abdul Kerim has
been working with permission for Islam, and he says that Sheykh
Abdul Kerim in fact has inherited and earned the title of "Evliya".
The reporter read Sheykh Mevlana's statement about Sheykh Abdul Kerim.

She later showed her true colors by never mentioning
Sheykh Mevlana's words in her article. But she contacted the
Kabbani organization to ask them about it just before publication.
Immediately, an order went out from their headquarters sending a delegation to Sheykh Mevlana to pressure him to say that he had excommunicated Sheykh Abdul Kerim. But alhamdulillah, they did not get the response they wanted, which would have pleased them and the New York Times.

This notice is intended for everyone on the Osmanli Naks-i'bendi
mailing list, as well as any other interested or effected parties.
We are putting out this message to clear the minds of anyone who believes in Sheykh Abdul Kerim and his work, to address the confusion and fitna that has been put out and going around for years. We have kept silent for a long time, amd we were still intending to keep silent up until the day they went public in the press. They are the reason that this has become open. We are protecting the rights of Sheykh Mevlana, of Sheykh Abdul Kerim, and our rights. Our Sheykh - Sheykh Abdul Kerim - and the Osmanli Naks-i'bendi murids around the world, are following Sheykh Mevlana's orders now, and inshallah we will do so until eternity.

Our message to Sheykh Hisham Kabbani's Naqshbandi group, and to all
others who are attacking us, is that they should stop the attacks on
us. They should stop partnering with enemies of Islam. And we should
all work together under the banner of Sheykh Mevlana for Allah and
for His Prophet aleyhi as-salatu ve selam.

All praises to our Lord Allah subhuana ta'ala and to our
Prophet aleyhi as-salatu ve selam, who is the most beloved
one in His Divine presence, and to our most beloved Master
and Guide Mevlana Sheykh Muhammad Nazim al-Hakkani.

If you still have not heard Sheykh Mevlana's unequivocal support of
Sheykh Abdul Kerim and his mission, you may go to

Sohbet from 16.04.06

Islam came to give us eternal life, not to kill!

Audhu bi-llahi mina Shaytan rajim
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
La haula wa la quwatta illa bi-llahi-l Aliyu-l Adhim.

As-salamu alaikum, wa rahmatullah wa barakatu!

That is a Blessings from Heavens to the Children of Adam that they are living on this planet, over the world: As-salamu alaikum belongs to Heavens. Good morning, good evening, bonsoir, bongiorno, kalimeras, kalisperas, gnaydin, tnaydinthese words belong to earth, nothing in it.

As-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu, it is holy words, holy words, that all Prophets were using (and) Allah Almighty (Himself) using (them) and saying: Salamun ala Nuhin bi-l alaminSalamun ala Musa wa HarounSalamun ala IlyasinSalamun ala Ibrahim

Salam (is) from Heavens to the Children of Adam. Who (is) accepting that Heavenly Salam, they should be happy, they should be under His Divinely Protection. Therefore the Seal of Prophets - sallaLlahu alayhi wa sallam - was urging his Ummah to say much more Salam, Salam. Salam, peace, as much as you are using it, coming from Heavens Blessings. Salam (is) calling down Blessings from Heavens and Heavens belongs to Allah Almighty.

Everything for Him and Allah Almighty likes to give His Blessings, but people are not thinking on it, particularly in our days people; (they are) never taking any care on Heavenly Blessings or Blessings from Heavens to come on them. And when they are loosing Blessings, instead [of] Blessings cursing [is] coming, (a) cursing that so many nations after Heavenly cursing (were) just destroyed and taken away.

And now it is Last Days. We are reaching Last Days or we reached Last Days, and after Last Days That means a train (is) just entering (the) station area; after a while the train must stop.: Last station!- stopping there. And now our world also just reached Last Days, showing. Showing (the station) Last Days, that means you are reaching the Day of Resurrection; that means the period of this world and life on it (is) going to be ended, to finish. You are going and the trumpet is blown, that means no any creation (is) going to be in life. Taking their lives; after that trumpet nothing (is) going (to be) alive on this world, finished. (The) Book (is going to be) closed and to be taken in Divine Presence.

But people are thinking that: Oh, (there are still) so many thousands of years for this world or so many millions years to be ended this solar system or this galaxy, (until it) may be finished. How it can finish? They are saying: We are looking, muraqaba, observing, we are looking up through Heavens, no, through space - they are not saying Heavens, they are saying space - and through space just we recorded some Holes, they are saying Black Holes, and we are looking that Black Holes (are) swallowing (everything), like (a) hoover. (What is) passing around them, (they are) taking, and disappearing They are recording that Black Holes, but there is some another holes that perhaps on same stage: one side (is) swallowing, one side (is) making another galaxies and sending (them) away But that (is) unknown

They are looking only for creation that they are disappearing, finishing, and really the creation (is) running, creation (is) never going to stop. From which time (it is)? For creation (there is) no time! Creation (is) running on, no one (is) knowing its beginning or ending, only you are looking and seeing that we have been landed on that planet and we cant know when it happened and we (are) never going to know when it is going to be ended. But creation, Allah Almightys Divinely Attribute (is) to create; He is Creator. You may ask: From which time? No time! No watch to see) which hour (it is) beginning? They are saying: (There was a) Big Bang in one billionth part of one second, they are saying so nice and people (are) saying: Big Bang - (let Big Bang fall on your head Big Ben in London Bells on that Big Bang falls on them! And they are saying: ) This is true. They are saying for Heavenly Books: We are not accepting, but (they are) accepting that Big Bang! Big Bang (is) kicking and eating them! That is famous knowledge for them and also Darwins theory; his famous theory for the beginning of life. They are thinking that they were ready and looking, not happening. Holy Books Verses knowledge, they are saying, we are not accepting, but (for) such foolishness (like these theories) they are saying: That is positive knowledge. That cant be positive knowledge! They are only their imagination, theory!

They are saying: From apes coming man and one person (was) asking me: Oh Sheikh, they are saying that mankind (is) coming from apes. But I am surprising - apes from where coming? I am saying: Ya Hu, you are no mind person! If mankind (is) coming from apes, apes (are) also coming from man, finished (Hmmm, I was) never thinking on it Only (that) apes (are) created nighttimes, man on daytime Never thinking!

We have been honoured by knowledge; the honour of mankind (is) by knowledge, because angels were saying: O our Lord, You are saying that I am creating a new creature to be My deputy on earth, My Khalifa, and our knowledge (is) reaching (to and), we are knowing about that new creature that they should be with each other so rough, so pitiless, so oppressors, so violent, (that) even wild animals should be ashaming when they are looking the violence of that creature that You named them Bani Adam, Adam!

(Now people (are) looking and seeing some creatures, lions and wild animals, running after some other animals, hunting them and eating, and they are saying: (They are) so wild creatures! But those creatures, wild animals, they are saying: We are only hunting one for our provision. Then we are sitting and making glorifying our Lord that He gave, (He) granted us to eat (and) to be satisfied and we are glorifying our Lord. But you, mankind, we are hunting one, but you are killing, killing thousands and millions (of) people - how you are blaming ourselves that we are wild animals? You are most wild creatures!)

And [the] angels were saying this that they were astonishing, hayret, hayran, mutaajiban they are not getting against that (what) Allah Almighty (is) creating, but they (were) giving their mutaala, their opinions on that point, and Allah Almighty (was) saying:

I know. I know what you know, (and) I (also) know what you are not knowing! And: allama-llaha Adam asma then Allah Almighty (was) teaching Adam, giving to Adam (a) knowledge that angels they are not knowing, (not) even Azazil, Shaytan. (Before getting against the Order of Allah Almighty Shaytans name was Azazil, an honoured name, but when he did (that rebellion) against the holy Command, just changed his creation and his name also just changed.)

He Almighty (was) teaching Adam (a) knowledge that angels (were) not knowing and Allah Almighty (was) asking: Say, o angels, the names (of) that (which is) surrounding you; the names (of) everything that (is) surrounding you! and they are saying: O our Lord, we havent (been) granted such a knowledge! And Allah Almighty (was) ordering: O Adam, teach them! Say! And Adam (was) beginning to say what Allah Almighty granted to him from knowledge and the angels (were) bowing. Then Allah Almighty (was) ordering: Bow to Adam!

The honour that (was) granted (to) Adam - alayhi salam - (was) for that knowledge that no one (was) granted from (other) creatures; it is the honour of mankind, but now I am sorry to say that those people, whom they are claiming that they are scholars or scientists or masters or doctors, they are not saying Holy Books Knowledge as a knowledge! That is inhitat, a falling from the level of mankind down.

Just they fell down from the knowledge, from the level of mankind coming (and) falling down and going to be on the level of animals. And animals (even) are not accepting them, (but) kicking them down, those people, whom they are not accepting Heavenly Books Knowledge as a knowledge. Kicking them away. They are like animals, Allah (is) saying, (and) not only like animals, but their level (is even) lower than the level of animals!
Animals are knowing their Lords Name, their Lord, that He is creating them, but those two legs animals, whom they are saying: We are scholars, scientists and doctors, their level (is) under the level of (those) 4 legs creatures.

And you are looking now their theories to where (they are) bringing them! Their theories (are) bringing them to kill each other! A lion (is) hunting one, but they are killing hundreds. Look what they are doing in their countries! They kill each other and they are killing innocent people!

And on the Day of Resurrection Allah Almighty is going to ask: bi ayyi dhanbin qutilat It is not only (in) the Days of Ignorance Time (that) Arabs were burying their children (alive), killing their children, but Allah Almightys information for the Day of Resurrection is so clear: Mauuda that innocent person, bi ayyi dhanbin qutilat, why they have been killed? On behalf of mauuda, on behalf of innocent persons, Allah Almighty (is) ordering to angels: Ask those oppressors, killers, tyrants, why they killed?

Pharaoh was killing small ones, Nimrud killed thousands of small innocent children and now Allah Almighty (is) asking to those tyrants that they are taking the whole power in their hands and they are inventing so many terrible dangerous weapons, throwing (them) and killing so many people. Allah Almighty (is) ordering angels: Ask those tyrants, qatal, on behalf of those innocent people - small ones, big ones - why they have been killed. Why they killed them, for what?

If they are Muslims, they must understand! Non-Muslims also must understand! Why they are killing? Islam (is) coming to give life, not to kill! Whole their activities (are) against Islam - Allah Almighty should take His Revenge from those tyrants. Soonerly now coming!

O people, you must understand real Islam and (the) invitation of Islam! Islam, to where (it is) calling you? Calling you to fire or to Paradise? And whom they are oppressors and tyrants, how you may say: They are Muslims and they go to Paradise? Paradise (is) just forbidden for them! Try to understand real Islam! (Islam is) making people to reach eternal life! Islam (is) coming to take people to eternity eternity to give them through eternity eternal life. That is Islams mission, but it is (a) misunderstanding; that Shaytan (is) teaching them, to speak against Islam. No! Muslims, what they are doing, it is not Islams mission! Islam (is) not coming to kill, (but it is) coming to give life!

May Allah forgive me and bless you!

For the honour of the most honoured one, Nabiyyu Rahma, for the honour of Mercy-Prophet that his existence is for mercy and blessings for whole creation - Sayyidina Muhammad - sallaLlahu alayhi wa sallam -,

Suhba from 02.04.06

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim

Suhba from 02.04.06

Now be on Allah's Side - Use the Heavenly Balance!

As-salamu alaikum!… Good people…good people!
Audhu bi-llahi mina Shaytan rajim
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Meded, ya Sultanu-l Awliya
Meded, ya RijalaLlah, a´inuna bi-auniLlah, a´inuna, aghithuna!

Ya Rabbi, O our Lord, protect Your weak servants from (Your) bad servant
Shaytan. Shaytan is (also a) servant, but (a) bad servant. All of us (we
are) His Almighty's servants, but one group (they are) good servants,
another group (they are) bad servants. (There) can't be a third party,
no! Hizb-Allah, hizbu Shaytan; one group belongs to Allah, running to
reach His Almighty's Pleasure, asking their Lord's Pleasure, trying to
make Allah Almighty pleased with them, (and the) second group they are
following (the) shaytanic way and their teacher is Shaytan. (He is a)
cursed one; Shaytan (is) never taking any care for his Lord Almighty
Allah and His Pleasure. He is saying: "I am not listening to You, I am
not respecting" - Astaghfirullah! - "Your Order, I am not taking any care
for Your servanthood"- Astaghfirullah!- "I am free. I am going to do
everything and I am running after Your servants, to take them on my way,
not to believe. I shall try after Your servants, I shall do everything
that it is possible to do; I am not leaving any chance not using to make
Your servants not to believe in You and not to take respect for Your
Orders. That is my mission now!"

And now (the) whole world, 99 % and more, (they are) following (the)
shaytanic way, shaytanic ways! They are saying: "No God", and he is
saying to them: "Everyone is God; you are creating yourself. You must be
ordering or not, preventing!" That is a new Madhhab. O people, how?
Therefore I am asking humbly from Allah Almighty: "O our Lord, don't
leave our dirty egos to follow Shaytan and its followers!" That is the
meaning (of): "Allahumma la takilni ila nafsi tarfata ´ain- O our Lord,
don't leave ourselves through the hands of our dirty ego!" And don't
say: "I am a good one", no, say: "Ma ubariu nafsi, I am not taking my
ego's side", because who is taking his ego's side, (he) is going to be
against Allah Almighty, against His Prophets, against His Awliya,
against His good servants! Who (is) taking his egos side - (the) egos
side (is the) side of Shaytan and Shaytan (is) 100 % against His Lord's way!

Therefore: "…wa wada'a l-mizan!" Allah Almighty (is) putting (a)
balance. For what balance? People think that (it is a balance like) when
we are going to market, we are using balance for buying onion or for
buying potato or tomato or cabbage or carrots…They are making
advertising, making a donkey and putting in front of it to eat carrots…
People (are) thinking that the balance that Allah Almighty (is) saying
(about in the) Holy Quran is for that purpose. No!
He is putting (a) Heavenly Balance to you; that balance, if you are
keeping (it), on the Day of Resurrection (is) going to be (your) balance
perfect. If not, you are taken away, you are going to be (on the)
garbage side: "Take this (one) to (the) garbage, dustbin!" "Where is
dustbin?" "Hells! Put them there!"…

For everything that you are doing, acting, making, for your work - you
must look (and) you must use (the) Balance of Heavens. If showing that
needle that (this) work or acting is in balance, (if it is) going to be
seen (as being on the) good side, Allah's Side; it is okay, do it.
But that balance, if (it is) showing to you that that work, that acting
(is) against Allah's Side, that is a trap that Shaytan is catching you
in his side, shaytanic side; you are going there and (it is) written…
just it is appearing your name that: "That one (is) taking Shaytan's
side against (the) Heavenly Side! Leave them in troubles and problems
and miseries and sufferings along their lives and then, when (they are)
coming to Me, (I am) taking (them) with My Anger. Take their souls with
My Anger and throw them through Hells! Jaza-an wifaqa: (that is a)
suitable punishment for them for being against Me, against My Heavenly
Order!"

Therefore, O people, everything that you are doing, (do it) with (that)
Balance: "This is (a) Holy Command to do this?" They are saying: "We are
not taking any care for Heavenly Orders, we are free ones!" Then (He is)
imprisoning that one on a bed and he is going to shout and cry before
his soul getting away and his dirty body going to be buried in his
graveyard…

O people, (the) most important thing for whole nations now is to be (on)
Allah's Side! Leave Shaytan's side, if you like to be for you a peaceful
life! Now (there is) no peace on earth, finished, because all of them,
99% (of people, are on the) side of Shaytan. And - (there is) no more
peace through nations through East or West and they are running to find
a peaceful world - (it is) impossible, as long as they are using (the)
wrong way!

Ajaib… Allah Almighty (was) sending me also to America and I saw that
writing there, (for) some ways that drivers may be mistaken and going
(in) a wrong direction. I was seeing so many signs (written) on it:
"Wrong way!" And I never saw a person looking and seeing that warning
and coming and getting in it! No!

And the Lord of Heavens (is) sending His Holy Book, His holy servants,
to show people right way (and) wrong way, and they are insisting,
insisting against that warning. Because it is (a) Heavenly Warning! They
are saying: "We are not taking care (for any) Heavenly Warning!" Ahh,
you are so brave! So brave! What is your power? "…Khuliqa-l insana
da´ifa!" Allah Almighty (is) creating man weak, so weak - weakest! You
can't carry one Pound stone up from (over) your hand for (even) two
minutes, you are getting tired - what is your power! You are thinking
that your power is technology? It is not your power - technology (is)
against you. You did it, technologia, that man running after Shaytan,
after shaytanic teachings, that Shaytan opening them!

And Allah Almighty (is) leaving them; as a punishment for them (He is
leaving them) to run into that dark tunnel. And now (the) whole world
just got in[to] that dark tunnel. They are not knowing now what they are
asking, for what they are making such a dangerous weapons (and) what it
should be finally, if they are using that poisonous and dangerous
terrible weapons?

Their makers are trembling, they are not in safety (even) if they are
getting so big, terrible dangerous weapons and bombs and Miessieles.
Even they are in fear, because maybe before they are sending that
terrible weapons to another direction, in its place may be a big
explosion and getting whole country finished. They know this also,
therefore they are using so strong buildings to keep that terrible
missiles, not to be an accident and all of them exploding and their
country (is) going away… They are not thinking on it now…

O people come to [the] side of Allah Almighty! "La asiman al-yaum li
amri-Llah…" Allah Almighty (is) saying through Nabiy Nuh, Prophet Noah
- ´alayhi salam - when he was knowing that (there was) coming a big flood: "O
people, come to me, come (into) my shelter, my shelter that (is) granted
from my Lord to you!" "Where is you shelter?" "That is (the) Ark." They
are saying: "So many people (are) standing there" - they are asking, they
were joking with Noah, saying - "O Noah, you are asking people to come to
your Ark - how many people? Whole world people, how (they) can enter?"
They are not believing in the power of the Lord Allah Almighty! If He is
asking to put all nations through the shell of a walnut, He can do! Take
(out its) inside, (and) it is empty. He Almighty can do much more than
this! Not one [of] dunya's people, one billion [of] dunyas' people He can put in
that small walnuts shell!

They were coming to make joke with Noah - ´alayhi salam - and (there were) only
coming and entering in it 81 people and they take their first class side
of Ark. Then he was calling: "O animals, wild and not wild animals! Your
Lord (is) ordering to you to come and enter in my Ark. One male, one
female. Come in, because your Lord is ordering Heavens to be opened with
flood and He is going to take away everyone on earth from living ones!"
Not one of those animals (was) saying: "(There are) so many kinds of
animals - how we are coming couple, couple inside?" They are not saying,
(but) man (is) saying: "Eh, how all nations coming in it?"

Iman (faith, belief) (is) giving your heart a wideness and peace and
contentment, satisfaction! Animals (were) never saying anything, coming,
coming and his Ark just fit everyone: Hundred kinds of animals, wild
animals and no wild animals, getting in. Man not coming in it, only 81!
O people, think on it! Use your minds not to be foolish ones! Use your
minds, don't follow shaytanic ways!

Someone that is graduated from university was saying that: "Our teacher
were preventing us from saying the name of Allah, even not to use the
word of belief. (If anyone was saying:) `I am believing`, (they were
saying:) `No, don't say this! No beliefs here, no God here!' " (And the)
same situation now through UN in New York, same! Allah wants to take His
Revenge; the Lord of Heavens angry with them, should take them away!
Someones for someones...

Therefore finished, never-ending troubles! Don't think (that) your laws,
your orders (are) bringing a solution. If bringing solution- that
democracy (is) against the Heavenly Commands. They are using (it) since
200 years; first (the) French Government; they did their worst against
Heavenly Orders and now they are falling in a very dangerous situation.
They are going to be, after a while everyone should be in need to be in
mental-house! Mental-house people… Their thinking (is) getting in limits
and happenings (are) out of their thinking capacity. They can't do
anything and France (is) in fire, burning!… I am saying: "Why? If your
mind capacity enough, stop (it)!"

When (the) flood (was) beginning, people (were) running on the tops of
mountains, but Allah Almighty (was) ordering (the water) to rise up over
the highest mountain 70 meters more!

Now I am saying: "French government, Turkish government, Russian
government, Iranian government, Iraqi government, Serbian government,
Lebanon government, Israeli government, Egyptian government, Libyan
government, American government, UK government", I am saying, "All of
you (are) just falling in troubles, endless problems. Use your minds,
(see), if your mindly productions can safe you!

I am in contentment, because I am trying to be with my Lord, not to be with you!
But you are not asking to be with your Lord asking to be with Shaytan.
Let Shaytan teach you the way of safety, saving yourself! Can't! I am
looking!

Now - telephone also.. bringing, I am throwing away… they are bringing
sometimes… I never learn how to look this side or that side from that side…
Al-hamdulillah, (I am at) rest! Not thinking anything about… There is (the)
Lord of Heavens, He is Controlling. (The) full control (is) in His
Hands, but (He is) leaving people that they are getting away, running
away from (His) Holy Commands, to be punished. And He is saying: "O my
beloved one (Sayyidina Muhammad - sallaLlahu ´alayhi wa sallam - ), I am giving their
punishment from someones to another ones!"

Eh… Democratic Party, Christian Democratic Party, Conservative Party,
Socialist Party, Communist Party, Capitalist Party, Liberalist Party,
donkeys party, snakes party, scorpions party…so many strange names!…No
sheep party! There is wolves party- (but) sheep party, no, sheep they
are very calm people, foolish ones…

And others… there is lion (saying:)… "I am happy, if you are bringing
that one, O my Darling!"… Running behind that wild cows or deers or
zebras, running, running, running, then catching, bringing…"Whooo…!"
(The) whole forest, jungle [is] trembling of this lion!

Allah Allah, Allah Allah, Allah Allah, Aziz Allah…
Allah Allah, Allah Allah, Allah Allah, Kerim Allah…
Allah Allah, Allah Allah, Allah Allah, Subhan Allah…
Allah Allah, Allah Allah, Allah Allah, Sultan Allah!
Mutlak Sultan Sensin. O our Lord, You are Sultan, eternal Sultan, we are
Your weak servants. You are blessing Your weak servants. Take Shaytan
away to come what You like on earth from your Holy Orders, so that we
can run after your Holy Orders as Your sincere servants to make You
pleased with ourselves!

For the honour of the most honoured one in Your Divine Presence, most
beloved, most praised, most respected one, Sayyidina Muhammad - sallaLlahu ´alayhi wa
sallam - Fatiha.

An Unearthly Sufi Novel: Irving Karchmar's "Master of the Jinn"

Salaamualykum

I have just ordered this, and I cant wait until Irving sends it out!

I will give you my review when I have finished the book. However here is a review that was previously published on alt.muslims.

Take care!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Irving Karchmar's debut Sufi novel, "Master of the Jinn", heralds the arrival of a fresh literary voice to Islam and America. It also signals the revival of Sufism.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Ali Eteraz, March 28, 2006

Call him Ishaq. That is the name of the narrator in Irving Karchmar's debut Sufi novel, "Master of the Jinn," which has already been translated into twelve languages. The novel heralds the arrival of a fresh literary voice to Islam and America. It also signals the revival of Sufism, such that in addition to associating Sufism with the long-dead such as Rumi and Hafiz, we may now find cogent expositors of the ways of the heart in our midst today.

The premise of the book is astounding. A Sufi master in Jerusalem, to whom Ishaq is an apprentice, is paid a visit by an Israeli archaeologist, his daughter, and an Israeli intelligence officer who has been having something akin to paranormal visions. The officer, Captain Simach, is convinced that his visions are, in fact, actual events. He seems to be suggesting that in a far flung mission to the Sahara, he has come across the ring of the Jewish Prophet-King, Solomon. The archaeologist, Dr. Freeman, is unable to solve the matter using his scientific methods, and brings it before his friend, the Sufi Master.

The Master confirms that the ring is real; that it is imbued with immense mystical powers; and that it must be salvaged. He asks the three Israelis, accompanied by three of his apprentices, to go after the ring, and in the quest they are to be led by a beggar, who is as mysterious as Khizr, and equally cryptic. Prior to their departure, the Master reveals that Solomon's ring was given to him by God, to command the spirits of smokeless fire, the Jinn. This revelation casts a certain fright over the group. As the chosen go to the desert, visions, dreams and painful memories enter their heart. They become humanized and vulnerable. In addition, they suffer unearthly storms, nights that don't end, and temporal shifts. In the end they find themselves in a lost city and there the mystery of Solomon's ring begins to be revealed to them, setting up a resolution of this magical-mythical-Islamic-Jewish mystery of such subtlety that it left me smiling. It is plausible to suggest that Karchmar has actually managed to lay before us what all others have simply suggested: the intertwined threads of theology and faith that link Judaism and Islam.

Although initially a bit off-putting due to a narratorial voice that's more Sir Walter Scott (Ivanhoe), than anything post-modern, this Sufi novel is a subtle creation twelve years in the making. Not a novel; it is layered cake.

For the mystics and the metaphysicians, this story is, through and through, a meditation on Love, the mercy of God, and spiritual discipline. The Sufi Master speaks on matters of the soul with the authority that Zorba the Greek reserved for matters of lust. The journey can be read allegorically, and many secrets meanings may be unearthed in later reads. Occassionally Karchmar gives a hint of the matter being touched upon by dropping quotes from the poetry of innumerable Sufi poets. He also brings in quotations from Plato and the Psalms of David. These quotes were a favorite part of the experience.

The story can also be read as nothing more than an adventure. As such, it can make for interesting bed time reading for children and adults alike. The innocence of Karchmar's writing (his characters sure do weep with joy a lot), suggests that perhaps that there is something important in the adventure worth analyzing.

However, in my opinion, this novel contains far more. I should like to posit that in an age where the primary association of Islam is with rage, Karchmar's novel is a conscious counterbalance to the Zarqawis and al-Sadrs of the world. It seems no accident that the novel is set in Jerusalem, or that the chosen is a former agent of the Mossad (that bugaboo that haunts radical Islam), or that the archaeologist is a holocaust survivor, or that the star of David is a part of the mystery. Karchmar seems to be using theology to open doors. Bin Laden's theology is one of banishment; Karchmar's one of balance. One is put down our throats by way of Kalishinkov's; Karchmar's dribbles onto our hearts like cool spilled ink. Sufis are irrelevant outsiders in Islam? Seems to me that Karchmar has made them central.

There is an added social component in the novel: the modernization of Sufism. At the beginning of the 20th century, Muhammad Iqbal wrote Asrar-e-Khudi (The Secrets of Selflessness), a Sufi love poem which argued that negation (fana'), the longstanding obsession of the mystic, had to be replaced with affirmation (khudi). Without it, Sufism would become irrelevant in the modern world. Karchmar has taken that theory and done something with it. I dare not reveal what. His dervishes eat; rejoice; dance in order to laugh; they laugh in order to affirm; and they drive LandRovers. Yet his characters retain the characteristic humility, piety and likeability one associates with mystics.

I will go back again and again to hear Ishaq speak. At the moment my understanding of the adventure is of the zahir (external) components. I will read it again to find the batin (hidden). That assurance, that there is something beyond what we can't see with our eyes, has always been Sufism's calling card. In "The Master of the Jinn" that mystery is on every page.

You can order the book on http://www.masterofthejinn.com or on amazon.com.

Arrogance & The Wicked Self

I write this out of love for my creator, for the sake of my sanity.

This blog is a one sided mirror of perfection. It is what I have created but does not represent who I am or what's in my heart.

To understand Islamic Spirituality I believe we need to be able to understand human psychology. In my recent attempts to draw closer to the self realisation of haqiqat I found it that there are peaks and lows in our spirit we all go through. This is caused by many things such as criticism of good deeds.

I always think of this quote when someone criticises me:

Allah (swt) has praised those who do not fear criticism "Wa La yakhaufun laumata lim.." "They do not fear calumny on the part of the calumnists. It is the grace of the lord who favours those whom he pleases with it) [5:57]

Arrogance is generated both by others and the seeker themself. If you admire yourself for your good deeds, you are a victim of arrogance. Now how many people do we know who doesn't boast or show off about what they are doing, done, read & completed...?

I know none.

Which brings me to the subject of Malamat (Defamation, Self-abasement)

Allah (swt) protects his friends with his grace by concealing the seekers good deeds out of the sight of others. Thus saved from the curse of arrogance, the seeker maybe disliked by others but is truly loved by Allah (swt) such as some Awliya, who were criticised continuously for their actions, but were steadfast and patient and continued with their deeds. There are many stories of great Awliya who have exercised this type of self vilification.

I don't like to praise people. I don't like being praised. I don't think I have done anything to be praised. But how does one deal with people who are looking continuously for praise and compliments?

So next time you think of showing off your good deeds think twice.

Tariqa and its importance to Sufism\Tasawwuf

Salamualykum,

I asked Shaykh Daoud Sharafuddin Rosser-Owen (A Noble Mureed of Shaykh Nazim
a question regarding Sufism and Tariqa, I have posted it here so all may beneift.

as salamu 'alaykum,

Q. Is there Sufism without tariqa/Can you do tasawwuf without tariqa?A. The answer to this begins with what one means by 'Sufism'. If it's used as a popular term, or shorthand, for the mystical or metaphysical content of Islam, then it must be a qualified 'yes'.

Islam, from the sunnah of Rasoulu-Llah salla-Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam, contains within its practices many spiritual exercises that anybody can do to raise their spiritual level like the dhikrs after prayer, like the optional fasts, reading the Quran, or performing optional prayers, and doing as many sunnahs as one can carry. This sort of mysticism will raise one's degree, and for many this is sufficient given the circumstances of our daily lives. But there are others for whom this isn't enough, for whatever reasons. This aspiration for 'more' is called himmah.

And several teachers have compiled booklets of such spiritual practices for the himmah-driven "layman" - such as the Mathawrat of Imam Hasan al-Banna shaheed (who was also a Shadhili-Hasafi shaykh), or the Hizbu-n Nouri-l Haqa'iqi-n Nouriyyah of Said Nursi. There's also the Dala'ilu-l Khayrat of Al Jazuli if one can carry it. If one can sustain these practices, one will soon find a need for more.

We inhabit two worlds - that of our physical body and that of our spirit: the 'alamu-sh shahadah, and the 'alamu-l ghayb or 'alamu-l arwah. As we do more and more spiritual practices, our physical connection with the metaphysical world becomes more acute. It's at this point that one realises that one needs a guide, and a tailor-made selection of practices that are suitable for oneself, because one also becomes aware that one is dealing with something that is immensely powerful, almost frightening. So, as it's not necessary to risk finding out the hard way, it's probably simpler (and less risky) to join a tariqa in the first place.

Q. Why is tariqa so important in Sufism?A. The detractors of Sufism accuse its followers of doing bid'ah, or 'innovation'. In fact all Sufi practices go back to Rasoulu-Llah salla-Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam: they have come down to us through a chain of transmitters just as with the hadiths. One can trace back the path the practices have taken from us to Rasoulu-Llah salla-Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam by looking back down the line of Lights. In taking bay'ah with a shaykh, one is not only performing a sunnah that was established at 'Aqabah and Hudaybiyyah and obeying a Command of Allah Almighty thereby (as in Suratu-l Fat'h verse 10), but also connecting to this Line knowing that the transmission is sound. It's like a mountaineer's rope; or an high-tension power cable. And one can be confident that whatever the shaykh teaches or tells one comes, demonstrably, from an authentic and reliable source.

Of course, as everyone knows, the early generations didn't have tariqas as such. They were able to travel to and learn from well-known teachers, many of them themselves from the ahlu-s salaf, like al-Hasan al-Basri and Rabi'ah al-Adawiyyah, or Mansour al-Hallaj and Imam Junaid.

The systematising really takes place with the Mongol Invasions, with the collapse of civil society and the remnants collecting around such shaykhs and making communities. Some of these became craft guilds, but some were the beginnings of the tariqas of today. And yet, with the spiritual ones, we can see a transmission of learning and practices going back from the particular shaykhs to Rasoulu-Llah salla-Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam through certain key common figures, prominent among them being Sadatuna Ja'far al-Sadiq, 'Ali bin Abu Talib, and Abu Bakr as-Siddiq radiya-Llahu 'anhum ajma'een. We draw down barakah onto ourselves by associating ourselves so intimately with these Greats of the deen if we connect with a tariqa.

A tariqa, like a madh'hab, is a living system of transmissions as much as anything. It is also companionship, and community is important for any spiritual journey - like in the saying (it may not be a hadith) yadu-Llahi fawqa-l jama'ah ("Allah's hand is over the group"). But it is a community gathered around a guide or master who has been reliably taught and initiated in the knowledge and practices: it is a community comprised of an aggregate of one-on-one relationships of disciple to master, murid to shaykh. As the saying goes man lam yakun lahu shaykhun fa shaykhuhu-s shaytan ("whoever doesn't have a shaykh, his shaykh is the Devil"), such is the importance of having a reliably connected guide.

Q. Is joining a tariqa outdated?
A. In our present-day circumstances of chaos and religious anarchy, associating with a tariqa (not even taking the step of making bay'ah as a murid, but simply being a "fan" or muhibb) is an important survival option. One might even consider it a necessity. In many ways, one could say that our societies are in as dissociated state as they were at the time of the Mongol and Turkman Invasions of the 13th and 14th Centuries, and like then, we need to draw close to shaykhs for authentic teaching and guidance, and the companionship of others of our brothers and sisters. This would be a practicable way of keeping close to the Community of Believers and "not separating even a hand's breadth".

Also, it's impossible to find a spiritual master who is not a part of a tariqa. If there is one claiming to be, then we should be reticent about accepting his (or her) teachings. It's also an obligation to examine in the first instance the silsilah (chain of transmissions) of those who claim to be following a tariqa, because some of these are inauthentic. "There are", to quote one of Shaykh Nazim's murids in England, "an awful lot of Spoofies out there".

Sandal Of The Prophet

Heavenly peace and blessings shower upon him
Notes from Imam Ahmad al-Maqarri al-Tilimsani’s voluminous book on the Radiant Sandal of the Prophet, May Allah shower peace & blessings on Him

In Arabic the Prophet’s sandal is known as ‘Na’l al-Nabiiy’.
The Prophet’s sandal is an amulet full of bliss, peace and serenity. At time of stress and grief one should place it on their heart and eyes for its luminous effects.
It is a cure for the ill, pathway to relief for those in anguish, healing for the pregnant woman at time of birth, strong against the evil eye, and a symbol of security and protection for ships at sea, property from loss, house from burning, caravans from hostile attacks. People would use the Sandal image for the aforementioned reasons and also for a means of achieving immense blessings in the stations of this world and the hereafter.

From those who drew an image of the blessed Sandal, approved its miraculous blessings and served it from the Hadith Masters were Ibn Asakir & his student Badr Fariqi, Hafiz Zayn al-Din Iraqi & his son, Imam Sakhawi and Imam Suyuti from the east. It is well known that the following scholars of Morocco were foremost in drawing the image (Ar. Mithal/Naqsh) since they did not have the real thing, Ibn Marzuwq, Abu Bakr Ibn al-Arabi, Hafiz Abu al-Rabee’, Hafiz Abu Abdullah bin al-Ibar, Ibn Rashedd al-Fahri, Ibn Jabir Aashi, Ibn al-Bara al-Tuwsi, Abu Is’haq al-Undlusi. Ibn Asakir took it from the Moroccan Ibn al-Haaj and all hadith scholars thereafter took it from him.
The tribe of Ibn al-Hadeed preserved the Sandals and then they were kept in Jami’ah Ashrafiyyah, Damascus. Moroccan travellers such as Ibn al-Rasheed came to Damascus and drew images to take back for the people.

May Allah enlighten their graves with His light and reward them for their efforts.
Verily I serve the image of the Sandal of Mustafa
So that I may live in both worlds under its protection

- Imam Yusuf al-Nabhani

Polish Of the heart

Bismillahirrahmanirraheem

(Hazrat Abdul Qadir Geylani QS)

Luqman Hakim (may Allah the Exalted bestow His mercy upon him) would
often say to his son: "O my dear son, how can a person feel safe from
the Fire of Hell, when he must inevitably pass through it? How can a
person feel secure in this world, when he must inevitably move on
beyond it? How can one forget about death, when there is no escape
from it? How can one ignore it and pay no attention to it?"

All of you will have to pass through the Fire of Hell. This means that
you need to equip yourselves for the journey with a good supply of
taqwa, but I do not see you stocking up on taqwa!

O seekers of this world! O you who are so passionately in love with
it! Is it anything more than a sip in comparison with the Garden of
Paradise? There is the secret. There is the lady. There is the true
priority!

The Prophet (sws) is reported as having said:

"These hearts are getting very rusty, and the polish they need is the
recitation of the Quran and attendance at sessions of Zikr."

By attending the sessions of learned scholars who apply their
knowledge in actual practice it is possible for hearts to be polished,
purified and cleaned, and for their hardness to be dispelled."

Excerpts from Beads of Dew:

With every breath a person breathes, a treasure is wasted and lost. It is necessary to recognize, with every breath, that Allah is Present and Watchful. When this awareness takes control, the sense of humble modesty is felt in Allah’s presence, and heedlessness departs.

The devil [shaitan] is twofold: concrete and abstract. The concrete devil is the one known as Iblis, while the abstract devil is the lower self [nafs]. The abstract devil does certain things the concrete devil cannot do. For instance, while the concrete devil teaches good deeds to the human being, intending to make him renounce them later, the abstract devil resorts directly to the greatest evil, using goodness as a pretext. He acknowledges the Prophetic tradition concerning the reward due to those who observe the fine practices of Allah’s Messenger, and to those who disseminate them, then he plays the trick of citing invented traditions. Satan himself is not capable of going to this length. To give another example, the concrete devil teaches the human being to recite the Quran in a loud voice, and envisages various pitfalls in this. As for the lower self, which is the abstract devil, it converts this teaching into the bad morality of the hypocrite, who makes a public show of his Quranic recitation, in his passionate desire to gain a good repuation. And so on, and so forth….

What is Sufism?

Al-Hamdu lillah was-Salat was-Salam `ala Rasulillah wa Alihi wa Sahbihi wa man Walah

"Before asking what is Sufism, we should ask what is Religion."
(Shaykh Nazim in an interview with the BBC, London 1991)

Shaykh al-`Arusi said in his marginalia titled Nata'ij al-Afkar al-Qudsiyya (Bulaq, 1920/1873):

"Religion (al-dîn) is an orchard of which the fence is the Law (al-sharî`a), the inner grove is the Path (al-tarîqa), and the fruit is the Reality (al-haqîqa). Whoever has no Law has no Religion; whoever has no Path has no Law; and whoever has no Reality has no Path ...

"The way of the Sufis consists in ten items:

(1) The reality of tasawwuf which is defined by truthful self-orientation (sidq al-tawajjuh) to Allah Most High.

(2) The pivot of truthful tawajjuh is to single out the heart and the body for [obedience of] Allah Alone.

(3) Tasawwuf in relation to Dîn is like the soul in relation to the body.

(4) The Sufi examines the factors of perfection and deficiency.

(5) The Jurist examines whatever discharges liability (mâ yusqitu al-haraj) while the scholar of juridical/doctrinal Principles (al-usûlî) examines whatever makes one's faith valid and firmly established. Therefore the Sufi's perspective is more specific than both of theirs, consequently their criticism of him is valid, while his criticism of either of them is invalid. Hence 'the Sufi among Jurists is better than the Jurist among Sufis.'

(6) To display the nobility of tasawwuf, its evidence being both by demonstration and by textual precedent (burhânan wa nassan).

(7) Fiqh [jurisprudence] is the precondition for the validity of tasawwuf and that is why it has precedence over it.

(8) Terminology and its specific applicability to each discipline exclusively of others.

(9) The keys of spiritual opening concerning which there are four rulings: first principles; truthful aspiration towards attainment; longing for spiritual realities; and quitting the guideline of what is transmitted (al-manqûl) once one obtains self-realization (al-tahqîq).

(10) It is a wonderful and strange path built on the permanent following of what is better and best: in doctrines it consists in following the Salaf; in rulings, fiqh; in meritorious deeds (al-fada'il), the scholars of hadith; and in high manners (al-âdâb), all that is conducive to the wholeness of hearts."

Some definitions of tasawwuf:

Tasawwuf: Purification of the self from all that is other than the remembrance and obedience of Allah; the realization of ihsân (excellence); zuhd (asceticism) combined with ma`rifa (knowledge of Allah); the attribute of the Sufi. "Ceasing objection" (al-Su`luki); "Abandoning the world and its people" (Ibn Sam`un). "Tasawwuf is neither knowledge nor deeds but an attribute with which the essence of the Sufi adorns itself, possessing knowledge and deeds, and consisting in the balance in which these two are weighed." (Ibn Khafif)

Some definitions of the Sufi:

Sûfî, pl. Sûfiyya: One who follows the path of tasawwuf, "He who gazes at the Real in proportion to the state in which He maintains him" (Bundar). They wore wool (sûf): "I found the redress of my heart between Makka and Madina with a group of strangers people of wool and cloaks" (ashâb sûf wa `abâ'). Sufyan al-Thawri as cited from Khalaf ibn Tamim by al-Dhahabi, Siyar A`lam al-Nubala' (Dar al-Fikr ed. 7:203).

Sohbet- What is the Naqshbandi Tariqat About?

Kings of Kings! We are such small-ones. Be happy that you are not a donkey! Ladies, be happy that you are not monkeys! Germans, be happy that you are not camels! Thanks to Allah, He has given us the greatest honour by making us human-beings.
"The foundation of our tariqat is association!" Shah ul Naqshband, the pillar of our most distinguished Naqshbandi Order, used to say. Why is our tariqat most distinguished? Because its methods are very special. What are the methods for? They prepare us for the Divine Presence, for the day on which everybody will be in Divine Presence. Whenever a ceremony is to be held in the Palace of her Majesty, whatever the occasion may be and she has invited famous and important people, they will be asked to wear such and such clothes. These will then come with their medals and uniforms and come. Her Majesty will also be dressed in a grand uniform. During this parade everyone is showing what they have.

In the same way, everybody has been called and invited on the Last Day to be in Divine Presence. And just like the people who have been invited to her Majesty take their most famous uniforms, everyone must come to the Last Day with their grand uniform. It will be a day of show and everyone will bring what they have. The grandest uniform will be worn by Sayyidina Muhammad, may peace be upon him. He will be there shining like the sun in the sky. No-one will ask where the sun is. On the Day of Resurrection it will be clear to everyone who the praised servant of Allah Almighty is. All prophets will come with their special uniforms made of light. Everyone will be there with their special uniforms, if they have any.

The most distinguished order, is the Naqshbandi Order and the most beautiful clothes are being prepared for its followers. There are some boot-sales where you can find clothes, but there are also clothes in Harrods or special tailors to make the clothes exactly the way you want them. Most distinguished means, it makes the best clothes for the servants for the Day of Resurrection. This tariqat is not for this world, it prepares you for Allah Almighty. We are not trying to waste people's life for the cheapest material. The Naqshbandi Order wants to spend all its authority for the sake of that day, to be able to come there with a special dressing. Others will not be able to look away, that is how beautiful, nice and sensational it will be. It will be perfect on the outside and in their hearts.

We ask of Allah Almighty not to make us ugly on that day. It is really bad luck to be ugly on that day. Ugly means that Allah Almighty will not look at them. If Allah Almighty looks at them they will appear with a wonderful look. When Allah Almighty's look empowers them, they will be so sweet. Unimaginable! And they will be in their paradise immediately without any hinderance. Nothing will hurt them. They will not have any suffering. That is the main target of the most distinguished Naqshbandi Order. It wants to make you a most distinguished one in Divine Presence. Try it and ask from your Lord to grant you. If you ask, He will give. You will then never lose your faith, or your good works, or your good intentions.

The intentions to do good will grow like plants grow and give their fruits. No-one will have tasted anything sweeter than these fruits that have grown through your intentions. The plant of good intentions is a very special plant. Everyone will be dealt with in the Divine Presence on the level of their plants of intentions. Everyone will find plants of the fruit of their intentions. It will give more and more and more. Try to plant trees of good intentions. Don't plant trees of bad intentions. It makes you ugly. No-one will then be able to look at you. Be attractive in the way that Allah Almighty will dress you with Divine Lights and you will be able to look at Him, the Almighty. If He doesn't dress you with Divine Lights, you will not be able to be in his Divine Presence. When you are in his Divine Presence, you will be able to look at his Divine Lights, into his Eternal Face. That is the biggest target, our final target: our Lord. From pre-eternity to eternity our endless and highest target is You, our Lord, nothing else! Nothing can be mentioned with Him. How can anyone make any other target that Him? Everything except his Divine Face will be finished and vanished. How can you aim at something that will vanish? Whoever makes the Divine Face of Allah Almighty the final target, will win everything. If someone leaves that target for anything else, he will find nothing in the end. He will look and find that he wasted his life for nothing. He will look at find nothing. Most people spend their lives running after something which in the end is worth nothing. That is reality. Millions leave this life every day. They look to see whatever they were running after, and they cannot see it. They are in a very narrow box and they shout, "Where is my target?"

What are we running for? For nothing! Don't belong to the heedless people who will not understand until they die. You must understand before you die what reality and truth is, so that you can reach your targets. Otherwise you will be like rubbish which will be thrown out of the city by the council. That is our history.

May Allah Almighty forgive us for the honour of his Beloved Servant Sayyidina Muhammad and for the honour of this Holy Month.

These are simple words which they are making me to say. If I was asked to speak in high level English or German or French, I could speak like a French, German, Scot, Irishman, Pakistani, Arab. It is so easy to speak a language of high level with high wisdoms. But what is the benefit? It is not a show. I am not doing a show like other people who make a show of their knowledge. There is no need. We want to give people a benefit and you are all like children in the kindergarten in front of holy people. Therefore we are speaking in this way, even if there are 70 or 90 year old people, all of us are kindergarten students. No more! Don't look at your beard growing and coming down...It is better to be people of the kindergarten, because there are never any exams and no-one is losing. Everyone is winning. In elementary school, secondary school, college, academies, universities, masters... everybody has to pass exams. Parents keep coming to me to pray for their children to pass exams, but no-one ever asks to pray for someone to pass the kindergarten exam! So you should be happy to stay forever in the kindergarten! No exams!

Sohbet- Your Level Shows On your Face

Our way is the way of association, said Shah ul Naqshband, may Allah bless him. For his honour we are being blessed. Holy ones like him are true and trustworthy ones. Allah Almighty promised his beloved servant Sayidina Muhammad, may peace be on him, that until the end of the world, until the last days, there would be within His Nation such true ones. Even if the amount would not be more than the numbers of fingers on your hand, they would be there. That is, so that people will not become hopeless.
True ones are good ones, they are trustworthy people, they are holy. So if anyone needs help, they can ask and they will find. Even if they don't have an adress like Harley Street or St Ann's road, they can be everywhere. They do not need passports. They don't need tavelling documents. They don't need to pass borders. They do not have to be recorded in computers. They do not need visas. They are free. The whole world is under their hegemony, it is the territory of Allah Almighty and they are servants of Him. So they may move on earth as they like, but they like what Allah likes. They do not have any likes or dislikes. Whatever Allah Almighty likes, they like. Whatever Allah Almighty doesn't like, they also don't like. They are true servants who are happy with the Will of their Lord. They never claim any desire or any will infront of the Will of their Lord. They are with Allah like you are with your own shadow: moving after you and never leaving you and never moving except if you do. So they do not need a special adress, because it could be difficult to reach that adress, but it is so easy for them to reach someone who is asking for a quick help. If they have been called by a needy voice, "Oh, my Lord's servant, save me, save me and protect me!", they will reach to that person before a second. People like that will always be on earth until the end of time. When you are in need and your hope is cut off from everything and everyone, you may call them and they will reach you. If that person is really a good servant, or if he is a candidate to be a good servant and he really needs help, he will reach him. We ask for some of their spiritual powers to reach us.

It is not important what I am speaking to you, it is only a means to keep you here. If I wasn't speaking to you, you would not be here and I know that very few people will keep any of my advice to force their ego and to keep it well. But it is important to keep you here and to call the Heavenly Powers to reach this community. The Heavenly Help of these people comes through their eyes. When they look at our meeting it helps and supports us and gives us much more opportunity to worship, love of worshipping, love of holy ones, love for the Prophet, may peace be with him, love of Paradise, love of eternal life, love of Prophets and love of good-ones. It makes us to love goodness and to be with good ones. It makes us to think of good things. It makes us to prefer to worship our Lord. It gives us honour by being servants of our Creator, Allah Almighty.

That is why we are coming here. Our souls are thirsty, so we are coming. We hope that Allah Almighty will give us refreshment and blessings and that you may forget the heavy burdens and you can keep your hope and not be hopeless. To be hopless means to be an unbeliever, because it means that you do not believe in eternal life. Like that you have to be hopeless from the beginning and then from day to day that darkness covers their heart and they will become more sorrowful and painful and full of suffering. Because the darkness will become thicker from day to day and they lose their hope concerning this life as they see death approaching. So they fall into an endless Ocean of Suffering. That is a punishment because they do not believe.

The hope of whoever believes will grow from day to day. With this the pleasure will grow and from day to day you will feel that you are coming closer to eternal life. You will feel that this temporary life is finshing and that you are coming closer to the eternal life. So that will make you much happier and full of hope. The refreshment of the eternal life will come into your face and into your heart. You will not become sad from day to day and to think of bad things and of how you should be able to save yourself from the suffering, sometimes even to ask to kill yourself.

You see, a hopeless person like that cannot even carry a young one. Once they lose their hope for living, they will try to take away themselves quickly. But it will not finish. So unbelievers fall more and more into darkness, hopelessness, sufferings from day to day. And they will lose the real taste of life more and more. They might be eating, but they do not enjoy it. They drink, but they do not enjoy it. Everything has become a routine: eating, drinking, dancing, but there is no taste. Because taste is a grant from Allah Almighty to his servants, but not to unbelievers. They may eat the most delicious food and they may drink as they like and have excellent cars, private trains, private planes, castles, palaces, yachts, everything! But the taste to enjoy comes from Allah alone, not from yachts or gold or jewels or ranks or Rolls Royce or limousines. These people actually think that limousines give taste to their lives!

Allah Almighty has taken that taste away from the unbelievers. Even if they have made it into their routine to have everything firstclass, they do not have the real taste of life. It has been taken away from the unbelievers. Because the taste of life is a grant fom Allah Almighty to his servants. In Sri Lanka so many people only have a piece of cloth around them, no shoes, only dry rice as food and they sleep infront of buildings on the ground. But they are tasting this life with pleasure. They are happy with their lives. But so many people living in palaces with everything under their command without believing in their Lord or without taking care of their Lord's worshipping, are being punished by their Lord: the taste of happiness has been taken away from them.

Allah Almighty gave the description of the faces of those who are believers in the Holy Quran: they will be smooth, not like the Germans never smiling, like the English! It will be clear in their faces. If you look at their faces, it will be clear that they are happy, very happy. Their faces will express, "I am happy with my Lord! He granted me a taste of this life as a beginning of the endless taste of eternal life." A life with a frowing face is difficult. May Allah grant us a face that shows that the owner is happy with the Lord and the Lord is happy with the owner.

Mysterious Shadows Lurking

When I started blogging I didn't believe I would get as many guests as I currently am.
I put a guest counter on the blog but I didn't view it accurate, as it changed every time I refreshed the page. So I went with a different sort of counter. It enables you to view where the guests are from. Can you believe only 44% of my visitors are from Australia and the rest are from as far as China to Spain!

Heres the Stats:
